2021 – Jean-Paul Jérôme : Colour, Light, Form, the audio experience of the film soundtrack
The creation of the film’s music, as seen by Jérôme Langlois, composer and performer
Robert Jérôme, the film’s executive producer, nephew and heir of Jean-Paul Jérôme, invited me to compose the music for a documentary film he was producing about his uncle, the painter-sculptor Jean-Paul Jérôme (www.jeanpauljerome.com). He wanted to optimize the musical quality of the film to enrich the visual content of his documentary film.
It was an exceptional experience for me to discover Jean-Paul Jérôme’s work in more detail and to collaborate with the inspiring movie director André Desrochers. For the creation of this music, I wrote scores, sometimes with several parts, for the singer Gabrielle Vézina (Facebook). She interpreted them with great mastery and sensitivity, expressing with intensity the emotions and beauty that had been inspired by the life and paintings of Jean-Paul Jérôme: His life dedicated with passion to his creation encompasses an immense variety of periods illustrating his exceptional journey of more than 60 years of continuous production.
This rewarding experience prompted me to produce a digital album of the film’s music. The recordings are available exclusively on my website.
In the same continuity of highlighting the film and its music, following the idea of producing this digital album, Robert Jérôme very generously decided to produce an audio-video adaptation of the film without the dialogues entitled “Jean-Paul Jérôme : La couleur, la lumière, la forme : le film en musique et images”,
